Third-Party Notices

This file lists third-party dependencies that require an explicit license notice.

Inclusion criterion — an entry exists here for a dependency that meets at least one of: (a) its bits are redistributed by this repository's packages or release artifacts (embedded model weights, assemblies bundled into the installers), so its license's notice obligations attach to us; (b) its package metadata is missing or misleading and the license provenance had to be established by hand (SmartComponents, bge-micro-v2); or (c) it records an explicit licensing decision (AngleSharp replacing the LGPL-3.0 Fizzler pair). Ordinary NuGet dependencies that are merely referenced in Directory.Packages.props and carry their own accurate upstream license metadata get no entry. Note the deliberate asymmetry for Apache-2.0 dependencies: the ones this repository redistributes (Apache.Arrow, section 5; the ms-marco model, section 7) get the full license text and — per Apache-2.0 §4(d) — their upstream NOTICE propagated here, while Apache-2.0 packages that are only referenced (e.g. OpenTelemetry, Gremlin.Net) intentionally get no entry, because §4(d)'s obligations attach to redistribution.

Sections 1-3 cover the local-embeddings feature (src/tools/Orkeon.Tools.Embeddings.Local/ + src/analysis/Orkeon.Analysis.Abstractions/DependencyInjection/LocalEmbeddingOptions.cs), all distributed under the MIT License. Section 4 covers the HTML/CSS engine of src/tools/Orkeon.Tools.Web/, distributed under the MIT License. Section 5 covers the LanceDB remote integration (src/core/Orkeon.Infrastructure/Memory/LanceDb/), distributed under the Apache License 2.0. Section 6 covers the embedded ECMAScript interpreter of the scripting DSL (src/scripting/Orkeon.Scripting/), distributed under the BSD 2-Clause License. Section 7 covers the cross-encoder reranker model embedded in src/rag/Orkeon.Rag.Onnx.Model/, distributed under the Apache License 2.0.

Which shipped artefacts actually embed model weights. Two sets of weights leave this repository, and it is worth being explicit about where. (1) The BGE-micro-v2 weights of section 2 (model.onnx, ~17 MB, MIT) ride inside the orkeon and orkeon-repl dotnet tool packages (tools/net10.0/any/LocalEmbeddingsModel/default/) and inside the platform installers built from the CLI (libexec/orkeon/LocalEmbeddingsModel/), because Orkeon.Hosting references Orkeon.Tools.Embeddings.Local and SmartComponents' content files follow into the publish output. The Orkeon.Tools.Embeddings.Local library package deliberately ships without them — not as a licensing stance, but because a consumer already gets them transitively from the SmartComponents.LocalEmbeddings dependency, so a second copy would double the download (see the OrkeonStripUpstreamContentFromPackage target in src/packaging/Orkeon.Tools.Embeddings.Local/). (2) The ms-marco-MiniLM-L-6-v2 weights of section 7 (~22 MB, Apache-2.0) are embedded resources of the Orkeon.Rag.Onnx.Model assembly, so they travel with every artefact that contains it: the Orkeon.Rag.Onnx.Model package itself, the orkeon tool and its installers. They are not in orkeon-repl, which does not reference that package. Both licences permit this redistribution; the notices below are what discharge their attribution obligations.

Training data note: the model was trained on the MS MARCO passage-ranking dataset (Microsoft; the dataset itself carries a non-commercial research license, while the trained model is distributed by its authors under Apache-2.0).
